Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a safe and effective way to make old skin look younger. Laser skin resurfacing can reduce or eliminate the wrinkles and fine lines on the face; smooth scars caused by acne, chicken pox, or trauma; and remove sun spots, age spots, moles, and pre-cancers from the face. Laser skin resurfacing is an outpatient procedure that takes anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour. Because the laser energy is so precise, the depth of resurfacing can be tailored to meet the patient’s individual needs.

There are two lasers available for skin resurfacing, the CO2 and the Erbium. The CO2 laser is the stronger of the two lasers and tightens the skin the most. It is best used for reducing deep wrinkles and large scars in patients with light colored skin. The CO2 laser gives the most dramatic results, but because it is such a strong laser, the healing time is longer than with the gentler Erbium laser. The results of the CO2 laser last longer than the Erbium laser.

The Erbium laser is a gentle laser and is best for fine lines and small scars. Skin pigment and moles can also be removed with the Erbium. Where the CO2 laser is confined to the face and neck only, the Erbium laser can also remove age spots from the chest and hands. The recovery time is shorter and the cost is lower with the Erbium than with the CO2 laser. The Erbium can also be used for patients with darker skin.

PhotofacialSM Rejuvenation Treatment

If your skin is not yet ready for laser resurfacing, our office also offers Photofacial'sSM rejuvenation. Using high-energy light instead of a laser, we can treat small spider veins and pigmented spots on the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands. This allows a much younger looking and more attractive skin without any downtime or bruising. You can have your age spots treated with PhotofacialSM and immediately return to work or home. And unlike laser skin resurfacing, we can remove age spots from the chest, arms, and hands.

Blepharoplasty

Do you think you are looking older? Do your friends tell you that you look tired? Then you may need blepharoplasty. Also referred to as an eyelid lift, blepharoplasty removes the skin from the droopy upper eyelids and bags and dark circles from the lower eyelids.

Besides providing a more youthful and rested appearance, blepharoplasty may improve your peripheral vision, allow you to read longer before getting tired, and remove the wrinkles on your forehead. If you are experiencing symptoms related to the heavy droopy eyelids, medical insurance may pay for all or part of your blepharoplasty procedure. The lower bag removal can now be done without any visible scarring and only takes about 20 minutes.

Your eyelid surgery can be performed in the office or at Empire Surgery Center, a Medicare certified and California state licensed surgery center associated with Empire Eye and Laser Center. The surgery center is often covered under most insurance plans.

How about a lunchtime lift? BOTOX® Cosmetic placed under the frown lines or crow’s feet will reduce the muscle activity that causes wrinkles in those areas. Safe, effective, BOTOX® Cosmetic can be used to soften wrinkles around the mouth and neck as well. Like Restylane®, BOTOX® Cosmetic is often administered in conjunction with a PhotofacialSM rejuvenation to remove age spots as well as wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic injections can be repeated as needed in order to maintain a youthful, wrinkle-free appearance. At Empire Eye and Laser Center, all Botox® Cosmetic is given by trained physicians only.

Safe, biodegradable, and non-animal-based, these safe and proven fillers can significantly reduce the folds that occur between the nose and lips as well as the folds at the corner of your mouth. Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, Restylane® is often given in conjunction with a PhotofacialSM rejuvenation to remove age spots as well as wrinkles.
